What Can I Do If My Website Seems Down?

Something’s not right? Here are the steps to check the usual suspects and get things sorted.

Last updated: August 2025

If your site appears to be down, follow these steps to diagnose the issue:

  1. Check Streamline’s Platform Status:

Visit our Platform Status Page to see if there are any known outages or ongoing maintenance affecting the platform.

  2. Verify on Your Sandbox Site:

Every customer has a unique sandbox site for testing, which will always end in .specialdistrict.org. If your live site isn’t working, you can check your sandbox site to determine if the issue is related to Streamline’s platform or your custom configuration. If you're unsure of your sandbox site’s URL, please reach out to Support.

  3. Check Your Custom Domain and DNS Settings on Streamline:

If the issue is not with the platform or sandbox site, and you are using a custom domain, it could be related to your domain’s DNS settings.

To review and manage your domain’s DNS configuration, sign into your Streamline account, then navigate to: Preferences > Domains > HTTPS. Here, you can check your domain settings and DNS, as well as review your SSL certificate status.

If you’re using a custom domain and you see a provider other than Amazon Route 53 (for example, GoDaddy or Namecheap), that means your domain is registered with that company. In this case, you’ll need to log in to your registrar’s account directly to make any DNS updates—Streamline cannot access or log in to your registrar on your behalf.

Rest assured, your site is still fully hosted by Streamline! The domain records are simply pointed to us so your visitors can reach your Streamline-hosted site. We only act as the registrar when domains are purchased and managed through Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  4. SSL Certificate Status:

Streamline automatically issues SSL certificates for your domain to ensure your site traffic loads securely over HTTPS. You do not need to purchase an SSL certificate from third-party providers like GoDaddy.

To check the status of your SSL certificate, sign into your Streamline account and navigate to Preferences > Domains > HTTPS.

  5. What to Do If Your Site Is Still Down:

If your site is still down and not related to the SSL certificate or DNS configuration, please reach out to our Support team with any error messages or specific behavior you're experiencing. We’ll help investigate the issue further.
