Easily embed videos on your Streamline site while ensuring accessibility with closed captions.

Last updated: August 2025

Embedding videos on your Streamline website is a great way to enhance your pages with visual content. Whether you’re sharing event recordings, promotional material, or other video content, adding videos makes your site more dynamic and engaging.

Supported Video Formats

Streamline supports embedding videos from YouTube and Vimeo. These platforms include auto-captioning options, making it easier to meet accessibility requirements.

If your video isn’t hosted on either platform:

  • You’ll need to upload the video to your Content Library and add it as a File element instead, so visitors can download and watch it directly.

  • Or, create a free YouTube account, upload your videos there, and then embed them on your site. Make sure:

    • The video is set to “anyone with the link can view” (even if not searchable).

    • Closed captions are enabled. We recommend Google/YouTube’s auto-captioning because it is the easiest to set up and highly accurate.

Accessibility Reminder

All videos embedded on your site must include closed captions. Captions ensure your content is accessible to visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing, and they also improve comprehension for all viewers.

💡 Always double-check captions for accuracy—especially with names, acronyms, or technical terms.

    • Add dynamic, engaging content that supports your mission.

And with captions turned on, your videos are inclusive, compliant, and easier for everyone to enjoy.

✨ The Streamline Accessibility Assistant will automatically scan your pages and flag accessibility issues with embedded videos, so you’ll know if captions or other updates are needed.
