Customizing Your Header Section in Amplify

A quick guide to personalizing the sitewide header so your visitors get a polished, consistent experience.

The header is the top section of your site — and because it appears on every page, it’s one of the most important areas to personalize. In Amplify, updating your header is quick, flexible, and doesn’t require any technical knowledge.

This guide walks you through the tools available in the Customize Your Header Section panel so you can tailor your site’s look and improve accessibility for your visitors.

Accessing the Header Section

When you’re logged in and viewing your homepage:

  1. Hover your cursor over the page until you see the Edit Section buttons appear.

  2. Click the Edit Section button located at the very top of the page.

  3. From the pop-up, select Edit Section.

This opens the Customize Your Header Section panel.

Customization Tabs Overview

At the top of the customization window, you’ll see three tabs:

  • Section Preferences

  • Translate

  • Search

Each tab lets you adjust a different part of your header experience.

Section Preferences

Use this tab to update your header’s visual style. You can:

  • Change the section color

  • Add a background image

Because the header is a sitewide section, any changes you make here will automatically apply across all pages — keeping your design clean and consistent.

Translate Options

The Translate tab allows you to enable and style Google Translate, helping make your site accessible for multilingual visitors.

You can:

  • Toggle Google Translate on or off

  • Choose your dropdown style:

    • Rounded

    • Squared

    • Icon-only

Select the option that best matches your layout and maintains a clean header design.

Search Styling

Under the Search tab, you can adjust the look of your site’s search bar.

Choose between:

  • Rounded search bar

  • Squared search bar

Pick the style that aligns with the rest of your header elements for a cohesive appearance.

Saving & Publishing Your Changes

Once you’re happy with your updates:

  1. Click Save

  2. Then click Publish! to push your changes live

Remember, changes aren’t visible to the public until you publish. You can exit edit mode anytime after publishing.
