Classic Pages and Amplify Compatibility

Learn how Classic pages work with Amplify and how shared elements keep your website visually consistent.

Last updated: November 2025

If your website includes both Classic and Amplify pages, you may notice that their editing tools look different. Even so, the two page types work together smoothly. Classic pages automatically inherit your global header and footer from Amplify, which keeps your design consistent across your entire site. This guide explains how Classic pages fit into the Amplify ecosystem and what to expect when managing them.

Understanding Classic Pages

Classic pages use the original Streamline layout system. They do not include the newer Amplify editing tools, but they remain fully compatible with your overall site design.

Classic pages continue to support:

  • Your site branding

  • Shared header and footer

  • Navigation structure

  • Page content created with the Classic editor

This makes it easy to maintain a unified appearance, even if your site uses a mix of Classic and Amplify pages.

Shared Header and Footer

Every Classic page automatically uses the same header and footer as your Amplify homepage. This keeps your website feeling connected and polished.

Classic pages inherit:

  • Your logo

  • Navigation links

  • Section colors

  • Background images

  • Global branding choices

These elements cannot be edited in the Classic page editor. To change your header or footer design, make updates on your Amplify homepage. All changes will automatically apply across every Classic page.

Design Compatibility

Classic and Amplify use different frameworks, so you may see small visual differences. These can include:

  • Slight spacing variations

  • Minor alignment changes

  • Differences in how certain elements respond to screen size

Even with these subtle differences, shared components continue to look and function smoothly across both page types.

Our long term goal is to bring Classic and Amplify even closer together so your entire site feels seamless regardless of which page type you are using.

Looking Ahead

Future Amplify releases will continue to expand design synchronization and editing options. As these improvements roll out, Classic pages will benefit from:

  • Stronger visual alignment

  • Shared accessibility improvements

  • More consistent performance

  • Additional customization tools where possible

This ongoing work helps keep your site modern, unified, and easy to maintain.

That Is It

Classic pages automatically inherit your Amplify homepage header and footer, giving your website a consistent look across all page types. While you cannot edit global elements directly from a Classic page, any updates you make on your Amplify homepage will appear everywhere. This keeps your site aligned and professional as Amplify continues to grow.
