Amplify: Creating and Discarding Drafts
Creating and Discarding Drafts in Amplify
Last updated: December 2025
Drafts Overview
Drafts in Amplify allow you to make changes to a page without immediately publishing them. This makes it easy to prepare updates, review content, and collaborate before changes go live.
This article walks through how to create drafts, save changes, publish updates, and discard drafts when they’re no longer needed.
Create a Draft
When you edit a page in Amplify, your changes are automatically saved as a draft.
-
Open the Amplify page you want to edit.
-
Make changes to the page, such as:
-
Adding or editing Designer Sections
-
Updating text, images, or layouts
-
-
Your changes are saved as a draft and are not visible to the public.
Drafts allow you to work freely without impacting the live site.
Continue Editing a Draft
You can return to a draft at any time.
-
Navigate back to the page you were editing.
-
Continue making updates to the draft content.
-
Review your changes as needed before publishing.
Drafts remain available until they are published or discarded.
Publish a Draft
When you’re ready to make your changes live:
-
Review the draft to confirm all updates are correct.
-
Click Publish.
-
Confirm the action to publish the draft.
Once published, all draft changes become visible on the live page.
Discard a Draft
If you decide not to keep the changes in a draft:
-
Open the page with the active draft.
-
Select Discard Draft.
-
Confirm the action.
Discarding a draft permanently removes all unpublished changes and restores the page to its last published version.
When to Use Drafts
Drafts are especially helpful when:
-
Preparing content ahead of a launch or announcement
-
Making multiple changes that need review
-
Testing layout or design options
-
Collaborating with teammates before publishing
Using drafts helps reduce mistakes and gives you confidence before changes go live.
