Accessibility Assistant

Exciting news: Streamline is proud to announce that we are the first and only company to offer ADA scanning built into our platform!

We may be biased, but we think it is even better than Meryl Streep's assistants in "The Devil Wears Prada." 👀

Why we built the ADA Assistant & Dashboard

Just as buildings need wheelchair ramps, websites must also cater to users with disabilities, ensuring equal access to information online for everyone in your community.

ADA compliance has been federally mandated since the 90s, and now many states (like California and Colorado) have additional laws in place with stricter requirements and steeper consequences for non-compliance. Along with the increasing number of online ADA lawsuits (more than 1,000 districts have been affected), the cost to settle them is also rising.

At Streamline, we have always had an unwavering commitment to ADA compliance. With our innovative new ADA Dashboard, we are thrilled to offer your district even more control over your compliance, providing additional protection and peace of mind. Rest assured, we've got your back. 😉

About your new ADA Assistant & Dashboard

We don't mean to brag, but our new ADA Assistant might be even better than Meryl Streep's assistants in "The Devil Wears Prada."

Streamline's Accessibility (ADA) Assistant puts remediation right at your fingertips. Your new dashboard automatically resolves most problems or identifies them for your review and guides you through each step to remediation (without navigating to another system.) If you ever need help resolving an issue, our responsive team is here to help.

What to expect from your ADA Dashboard and Assistant:

  • Monthly comprehensive site scans
  • Scan results and remediation action reports
  • Monthly board-ready compliance reports
  • AI-driven alt-text will help you tag your images
  • Color contrast boundaries, correctly formatted headers, specific ADA-friendly fonts selected
  • Mobile responsive designs that maintain ADA compliance for the 40% of people not on a desktop

Your Accessibility Assistant can be found on every page of your site and the Accessibility Dashboard is located on your admin toolbar.

AccessibilityShield & what's next?

We will be rolling out an update to the accessibility tools next month so you may see the number of reported issues go up. Feel free to remediate any issues you see. If you find yourself in need of a hand, we are here to help. 🆘

What the ADA Dashboard doesn’t do (yet) that you will need to check manually:

  • Check your PDFs for potential accessibility issues (coming soon) (If you use Microsoft Office to create PDF's your district can get a head start on this by using the built-in Microsoft Accessibility Checker, Adobe Acrobat's PDF Accessibility tool, PAC 2021, or the CommonLook PDF Validator.
  • Check your images to make sure they don’t have text in them that you should also have on your page, such as a flyer (coming soon)
  • Check your videos for closed captioning (this is something you will want to have in place)
  • Check third-party content or linked content, such as an embedded map or widget, so please place custom HTML with care, or just ask us for help!
